  • Saves 75% of the fuel that is required to cook the same food in open vessels.
  • Labour saving: needs no attention, no stirring, and there is no danger of burning the food. The same vessels which are used for cooking are used for serving the food. Once started, needs no attention. At the end of one hour, the gas supply is switched off, and water drained out from a tap in the base.
  • Cooks anything that can be steamed in a closed container — meat, dal, lentils, rice, vegetables —simultaneously. The food placed in the containers can have all the spices and tadka added before starting.
  • No packing: Stand, burner & vessels fit inside the EcoCooker.

A 600-litre EcoCooker is undergoing trials. It will be used for school mid-day meals. The same vessels which are used for cooking will be dispatched (without transferring the contents) to different schools.
